![]() I think the software is amazing and I'm totally dependent on it as a producer / engineer.Although - I feel like Waves' treatment of their consumers is greedy and not transparent.I never really thought it would bother me that much, but now I feel like Waves is taking advantage of me.I bought the Diamond pack plus some single plugins. I use Waves software on a daily, on literally every project. The Update Plan thing is also pretty grifty.TL DR - a Karen rant about Wave's transparency about 'owning' your software. not a Waves hater as much as just amused, but I do wish I learned about these things before spending money with them. I do wanna play with the Aphex Exciter and their plasticky API 2500 for a little nostalgia, just for chucks, but if memory serves I like other companies' analog emulations of literally everything but the 160 for actually doing mixes. not that much love lost, I can just use the dbx 160 in DMG Trackcomp. a situation where iLok would actually be comparatively very reasonable. maybe I fucked something up, but I've never had a customer experience anywhere close to this absurd and funny with any other plugin company. I locked myself out of my Waves account for a year in something like an hour just trying to get my plugins authorized. I got a USB wifi antenna when the one inside my laptop broke and their authorizer somehow gave my computer, like, three different device IDs in 30 minutes and I had to use the "recover my licenses" thing which is preposterously limited to one use a calendar year. I've been 100% locked out of all my licenses for a year, starting last november. I spent a fair chunk on waves plugins, maybe $150, incl.
